Hoss Roemer qualifies with a rifle.
The Wabasha Police Department completed the first of two state-mandated qualifications in handguns and rifles this past month. The firearms instructors were Wabasha Police Officer Ben Swanson, Wabasha County Deputies Jason Lorenson and Josh Pischke. This qualification entails shooting different targets at different distances, both right-handed and left-handed, for about one hour and securing a passing score.
” All of our firearm instructors are very knowledgeable and run a organized and safe course,” said Joe Start, Police Chief, about the training. “Throughout the year, the officers do scenario-based and skilled shooting which provides them with the skills to pass this qualifcation when its time to test”.
