PUBLIC WORKS NOTICE – WEED AND DEAD TREE NUISANCES
 
The City of Wabasha would like to remind our residents to keep in mind two important city ordinances while taking proper care of their property for everyone’s safety. The following is a section from each ordinance concerning weeds and dead trees. If these issues are not taken care of by the property owner, the city can hire these services completed, and bill the property owner. 420.01 DEFINITION OF WEEDS:
 
The word “weeds” as used in this section shall be construed to mean and include all noxious weeds as defined by the Statutes of the State of Minnesota and all such useless and troublesome plants as are commonly known as weeds to the general public.
 
420.03 NUISANCE:
 
All weeds growing upon any lot in the platted portion of the City of Wabasha to the greater height of one foot, or which have gone or about to go seed, are hereby declared to be a nuisance and dangerous to the health, safety and good order of the City.
 
1220.07: DUTIES OF PRIVATE OWNERS:
 
Removal of Diseased or Dangerous Trees: Diseased and/or insect-ridden Trees, dead or injured trees deemed to be a health or safety hazard by the City Forester must be treated or removed so as not to constitute a health or safety hazard to the public or other trees or plants in the City.
