The Market Street reconstruction project is underway. Last week, the contractors peeled back the existing pavement and began the process of giving area residents temporary water, so that the water mains can get replaced. This area has been the source of many leaky water lines, with several water line breaks, and replacing them will save our Utilities and taxpayers money.

This week there is a planned water main relocation for the project and the intersection of Main Street, Market Street, and Washington Street will be closed to through traffic May 13th and 14th beginning at 7am both days.

The construction crews will work as fast as they can to get this portion of the project completed so that partial lanes can be reopened. We recommend no travel through the area, and residents may use Lawrence Boulevard East beginning at Baily Avenue as two-way traffic temporarily during this closure.
