2024 General Election Information

City Officers to be Elected:

  • One Council Member Position – 1st Ward – 4 Year Term
  • One Council Member Position – 2nd Ward – 4 Year Term
  • One Council Member Position – 3rd Ward – 4 Year Term

Individuals interested in running for City Council in the City of Wabasha can file during the official filing period from May 21, 2024 to June 4, 2024. The filing hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Filing will be open until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024. The last day to withdraw is Thursday, June 6, 2024, until 5:00 pm. City Council candidates must file for office during this period for their name to appear on the ballot.  The filing location is City Hall, 900 Hiawatha Drive E, Wabasha, MN, and a filing fee of $5 is required.

Do you want to become an Election Judge?

If you would like to be an Election Judge, please call City Hall at 651-565-4568, to request an application form. Election judges are paid an hourly wage set by City Council, including training and serve on Primary Election Day, and General Election Day.  With advance notice, employers must allow workers time off to serve as election judges.  Brochures and helpful information can be found by visiting on the Office of Minnesota Secretary of State website.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen and at least age 18
  • Minnesota resident for at least 20 days
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Cannot be a spouse, parent, child or sibling of an election judge serving in same precinct
  • Cannot be a spouse, parent, child or sibling of a candidate on the ballot in same precinct

Election Judge Duties:

  • Set up polling place
  • Operate voting equipment
  • Direct voters to correct lines
  • Register and assist voters
  • Demonstrate how to vote
  • Distribute ballots
  • Close polling place
  • Determine and certify voting results
