Matt Wobbe plows snow in winter

At their October meeting, the Wabasha City Council celebrated Matt Wobbe, Public Works Technician II, 5-year work anniversary. Matt supports the public works department in a variety of roles- from plowing snow in the winter, responding to water main breaks, or maintaining the city’s forestry.

Riley Costello, Assistant Public Works Director shared about how Wobbe was able to mentor him when he first joined the Department , “Being new, I quickly noticed how valuable Matt was to the City of Wabasha and the Public Works department. He was more than willing to share any knowledge he had which was extremely beneficial to me when first starting out. I have watched him continue to do that with all the new people we have brought on board since. He is a natural leader who isn’t scared to make decisions and lead when necessary. He helps lead the pool operations, winterizing efforts, and the group of guys that handles our lawn care throughout the city. He is always someone we can count on and is a crucial part to our success in the department.”

It was also noted that Wobbe is well regarded in the community and also volunteers his time on the Fire Department as a Captain and an Engineer.

Administrator Gregerson shared how Wobbe is known as a quick problem solver for the Utiltiies Department, able to figure out how to address alarms going off in the system or a new problem.

The City of Wabasha wishes Matt Wobbe a congratulations on his work anniversary.
