Ash Tree Removal to begin October 15th, 2018

The city Public Works crew will begin removing Ash trees in the boulevards on the West side of Wabasha.  This will begin in the North West part of town along the streets of Campbell Avenue, 3rd Street West, 4th Street West, 5th Grant Boulevard, 6th Street West, 7th Street West, Church Avenue, Maiden Avenue, Shields Avenue, Phelps Avenue, and Rocque Avenue, etc.  All Ash trees will be removed whether dying or currently alive.  Some trees that pose a challenge to the city crews will be cut down by a local contractor when needed.  We need to stay ahead of the Emerald Ash Borer disease the best we can.  All brush will be ground up on site, and the logs will be hauled to the city brush dump located at 700 10th Street West.  Trees will begin to be marked the week of October 9th, 2018.  We do not anticipate grinding the stumps and replanting grass until Spring/Summer of 2019.  Tree replanting is still in the planning stages and will follow after stumps are ground.  When traveling around the tree removal crews, please give them the space and time needed to do their jobs.  We thank you for your cooperation.
